Who did Emily Compagno replace on The Five?

Emily Compagno takes the chair left open by Jeanine Pirro, who exited the show over a year ago in May 2025.

A rotating cast of Fox personalities has occupied the open seat since then, with Emily among them.

She officially joins the panel on Tuesday, September 8.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said her “energy and talent have made her a standout across FOX News Media, and we are thrilled to officially welcome her to the show.”

The move means Emily is leaving Outnumbered, where she’s been a co-host since 2021.

Fox says rotating personalities will fill that midday seat until a permanent replacement is named.

Speaking about the move, Emily said: “I couldn’t be more honored to join The Five, a team I have long admired and have been fortunate to work alongside over the years.

“Having an official seat at the table on what I truly believe is the most fun show on television is an incredible privilege.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”

Why did Jeanine Pirro leave The Five?

Jeanine departed after President Donald Trump announced on May 8, 2025, that she would be appointed interim US attorney for the District of Columbia.

Fox confirmed her exit was effective immediately and she was sworn in the following week.

A ceremonial White House swearing-in followed on May 28, and her formal nomination for the permanent post came on June 17.

In August 2025, the Senate confirmed her by a vote of 50 to 45, and she remains in the job.

Jeanine had been at Fox for over a decade before The Five, hosting Justice with Judge Jeanine and joining the panel show for a run of around three years.

Who are the co-hosts of The Five?

Emily joins Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters, who appear daily.

The fifth chair is shared by rotating hosts Harold Ford Jr and Jessica Tarlov.

The show marked its 15th anniversary in July, having launched in 2011.

It remains the most-watched program in cable news, holding that spot for 19 straight quarters.

In the second quarter of 2026 it averaged 3.6 million viewers and 322,000 in the 25 to 54 demographic advertisers chase.

Emily first joined Fox as a contributor in 2018.

Before television, she practiced criminal defense and civil litigation, later serving as a federal managing attorney and acting director at the Social Security Administration.

She also worked as a senior judicial extern for the late Judge John T. Noonan Jr at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Away from the law, she captained the Oakland Raiders cheerleading squad and served as an NFL ambassador.

Her 2024 book titled Under His Wings: How Faith on the Front Lines Has Protected American Troops was a New York Times bestseller.

It’s a collection of first-person accounts from US service members about the role faith played for them in combat, spanning World War I through to recent conflicts in the Middle East.
