THE Masked Singer has revealed the first celebrity competitors of the season in a shocking double elimination.

Season 14 of The Masked Singer premiered on Tuesday night with 10 performers hitting the stage in their elaborate costumes.

Each contestant had viewers and judges Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora, scratching their heads over who could be hidden beneath their over-the-top getups, with only vague clues and their singing voices as a guide.

However, some performers didn’t fool everyone with their disguises, as the episode ended with the season’s first double unmasking.

The first was legendary athlete, David “Big Papi” Ortiz, who couldn’t hide his identity beneath his costume, Googly Eyes, which host Nick Cannon, said was the tallest in the show’s history.

Most of the judges guessed that the celeb within the pink monster mask was a professional athlete based on the size of the costume and their seemingly amateur singing voice.

The MLB player performed Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon, primarily hyping the crowd and bringing the entertainment rather than showcasing his vocal chops.

David wasn’t the only contestant to get called out from underneath their incognito attire.

A duo act was also forced to unmask, as many pegged Chrisley Knows Best stars Todd and Julie Chrisley as the mystery pairing, given their character’s Southern accents and prison-themed performance.

The couple dressed as The Croissants, sporting giant French pastry costumes and their ankles tied to a ball and chain, which fans suspected teased their years-long sentencings for tax fraud, while belting out Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock.

They also mentioned in their clue packages that they spent considerable time apart and were “cancelled,” leading Jenny to suggest the TV stars were behind the masks, despite Robin’s insistence that they were Jersey Shore stars Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

Viewers, however, will have to wait until next week to uncover their identities, as the episode ended with a massive cliffhanger that blurred their faces during their reveal.

Social media erupted with fans’ reactions over the surprising unveilings.

“Big Papi on the Masked Singer!!!!!!” one person wrote on X.

“Not they had David Ortiz on the masked singer lmaoo,” said another.

“I hate when they scam us promise us a double unmasking and don’t deliver,” someone else said on Reddit about the unexpected cliffhanger.

“Aw googly eyes was funny sad to see him go,” remarked a fifth.

“The Croissants were the easiest guess in my entire time watching,” added a sixth.

A production insider recently revealed to The U.S. Sun that the pre-taped show doesn’t exactly play out the same in person as it does on-screen.

They shared that although it appears that the live audience is witnessing the unmasking at the same time as the judges, they’re actually forced to leave the studio while the celebs “Take it off.”

This means that the judges and the shot crew are the only ones present for the actual unveiling, and significant editing is done to make it appear like the contestants are unmasking to a packed crowd.

Last season, country music star Gretchen Wilson was crowned the winner while competing as Pearl, and Andy Grammer, dressed as Boogie Woogie, was the runner-up.

There are 18 celebrities competing for the Golden Mask trophy this season, with several themed episodes inspired by pop culture franchises.
