For Derek Hough, becoming a dad to his and Hayley Erbert’s daughter, Everley Capri, perhaps marked the most prosperous moment in his life.

After two weeks together as a family of three, he shared a new Instagram post, where he expressed his plan to write a special song dedicated to Everley, who was born on Dec. 29.

In the video, shared on Jan. 17, Hough sat behind a classical piano and flawlessly played a beautiful melody. In the caption, he stated his intention to intertwine his love of music with his love for Everley.

“One of these days, l’m going to write a song for my beautiful daughter. A melody just for her,” he wrote.

Fans of the “DWTS” megastar praised him in the comments, saying his piano skills were impressive. Some supporters even gave Hough suggestions on how to write a song for Everley and when to share it with her.

“Is there anything you cannot do? You have been totally gifted by God,” one fan wrote.

“Oh my gosh that filled my heart so full I cried! Absolutely beautiful!” added another.

A third fan suggested the professional dancer create a song for his daughter every year on her birthday to sing together later on when she is older.

Derek Hough Has ‘Lifetime Promise’ for Daughter Everley

Just a few days before Hough made his heartfelt vow during a piano session, he shared a photo of his and baby Everley’s hands. “These small hands, one tiny finger and a lifetime promise. I’ll always be here to hold you and love you. Forever and ever, my Everley,” he captioned the Instagram post. Erbert then commented, “My favorite fingers in the whole world.”

Everley is Hough and Erbert’s firstborn child after having miscarried shortly before finding out they were again blessed with a pregnancy. The couple revealed the heartbreaking news in October 2025 via Instagram, where they sought to raise awareness for anyone else in that same position.

After experiencing life as first-time parents together, Hough admitted in an interview with Parade that seeing Erbert as a new mom has made his heart grow deeper in love with her.

“I don’t think anything really surprised me,” he shared with the outlet. “I think I’m just more in love with my wife. That’s not surprising, but I think it’s definitely something I feel. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.”
