Campbell died of an accidental drowning while fishing in Pompano Beach, Florida, on December 1, 2025, at the age of 57. His death shocked many due to the circumstances surrounding it. Recently, new and surprising details have emerged regarding Campbell’s tragic passing, revealing some astonishing information about the case.
“Officials say video shows ex-NBA player Elden Campbell went out on the waters in the middle of the night before his tragic drowning … but he seemingly took some safety precautions, as he was wearing a “partially unzipped” life vest when his body was found on the shore. TMZ Sports has obtained the investigation report on the NBA champ’s death … which states 57-year-old Campbell left a nearby boat ramp alone around 12:37 AM on Dec. 1,” Via TMZ Sports.
TMZ Sports reported that Campbell was wearing a partially unzipped life vest at the time of his drowning. His body was found on the sand near the water’s edge of the beach.

The latest updates on Campbell’s tragic death have introduced a new angle in the case. TMZ Sports has reported that Campbell’s wife discussed his lifestyle with investigators. She revealed that Campbell was a health-conscious individual who was capable of swimming and had no history of drug or alcohol abuse.
