Less than 24 hours before the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the state’s governor found himself in an unexpected spotlight. Governor Tony Evers tried to get into the football spirit with a lighthearted post on social media. Instead, he ended up trending for all the wrong reasons.

In a short video shared on X, formerly Twitter, the governor tossed a football to himself while wearing a sweatshirt and a grin. “Less than 24 hours away from the 2025 NFL Draft kickoff in Titletown! Getting warmed,” Evers captioned the post. The internet didn’t hold back.

The throw, described by many online as “awful,” quickly made the rounds. Users flooded the replies with mockery, disbelief, and some brutal honesty.

“Who told you this was a good idea? You should have to resign for this,” one user wrote.

It didn’t stop there. Some comments got even more personal. “I notice that no one will play with you, so you have to throw it to yourself. Oh, and my 10-year-old daughter throws a football better than that,” one viewer posted.

Another added, “Delete this post.”

Offers to fix the politician’s social media disaster quickly flooded in. One user claimed they could handle the account for $75K annually and insisted they’d do a far better job. Others slammed the post as the most cringe-worthy thing they’d ever seen, showing how brutally the internet reacted to the viral football throw.

While the throw itself may not land him a spot on an NFL roster, Evers at least managed to stir up some buzz before Green Bay hosts its first-ever NFL Draft. The first round kicks off Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET, with ABC, ESPN, and NFL Network coverage.

Cringe or not, the governor succeeded in reminding folks that football season- well, draft season is in full swing.
