Ohio State Star Running Back Hit With Team Suspension
Not a good start to the season.
Ohio State confirmed a short suspension for one of its freshmen. Running back Legend Bey will miss the first couple of practice sessions.
Coach Ryan Day addressed the situation after the opening preseason workout.
“He won’t practice the first couple days,” Day said. “Got a little violation of team rules, so he’s learning, but he’ll be back on the field soon.”
Reports indicate the issue is not serious. Legend Bey is expected to return by Saturday’s practice. The Buckeyes open the season on September 5 against Ball State.
The timing comes at the start of fall camp. Ohio State is installing its offense and evaluating depth. A brief absence for a true freshman is common as players adjust to program standards.

Bey arrived as a four-star recruit from North Forney High School in Texas. He starred as a dual-threat quarterback in high school. As a senior, he threw for 1,341 yards and rushed for 1,626 yards.
His production included multiple big games with high touchdown totals. Scouts praised his vision, burst, and ability to create after contact. Ohio State sees him as a versatile piece who can play running back and also line up at receiver.
His track background adds another layer. Legend Bey posted elite times in the 100-meter dash. That speed gives the offense another explosive option in space. Ryan Day has previously compared his skill set to dynamic playmakers who can stress defenses in multiple ways.
The suspension is a minor setback early in camp. Day framed it as a learning moment for the true freshman. Players often face early accountability as they transition from high school to a Power conference program.
Legend Bey Joins a Strong Running Back Group

Even with Legend Bey sidelined briefly, Ohio State’s backfield remains deep. Sophomore Bo Jackson returns after a strong 2025 season. He rushed for 1,090 yards and six touchdowns last year.
Jackson also contributed as a receiver with 19 catches for 200 yards. His presence gives the Buckeyes a reliable lead back. Additional options behind him provide further security for the early practices.
The room is expected to handle the short absence without major disruption. Coaches can still evaluate other young players while Legend Bey works through the suspension. Once he returns, the competition for carries and specialty packages will intensify.
Legend Bey still has time to earn a meaningful role. His athleticism and high school production suggest he can contribute on offense and special teams. The staff will continue monitoring his progress as camp continues.
