Cincinnati closed out a perfect preseason Friday night with a 30-13 win over Philadelphia. One player buried on the depth chart made sure people noticed him.
Video of a certain play made the rounds online, capturing a running back breaking through multiple tackle attempts on his way to the end zone.
One X user summed up the reaction simply: “Who tf is this?”
That answer surprised plenty of Bengals fans, too.

The player was Jamal Haynes, an undrafted rookie running back out of Georgia Tech. Haynes took the handoff, cut through traffic, and shed multiple Eagles defenders before sprinting the rest of the way to the end zone.
He finished the night with seven carries for 78 yards, capping Cincinnati’s 3-0 undefeated preseason run.

Haynes broke down the play afterward.
“Stretch to the left,” he said. “I saw the hole a little bit clogged.”
Head coach Zac Taylor praised the fourth-quarter push from his depth players across the board. “And when did they come?” Taylor said. “They come in the fourth quarter when you’ve got the lead and are able to grind it out and you hit some big ones.”
Fans reacted with a mix of excitement and disbelief.
“Either that was a fluke or… if it wasn’t, the Bengals may have a hidden gem,” one fan wrote.
Another leaned into the comparison outright.
“That legit had a Barry Sanders vibe to it,” they wrote. “I understand it’s not against a real NFL defense but still.”
A third fan simply identified him by his college roots, writing, “That boy from Georgia Tech, lol.”
Haynes Faces Long Odds To Make The Final Roster

Standing just 5-foot-7, Haynes entered Friday’s game with only one carry across Cincinnati’s first two preseason contests.
He’s fighting an uphill battle for a roster spot behind Chase Brown, with Tahj Brooks and Kentrel Bullock also competing for depth reps in a crowded backfield. Bullock actually outgained Haynes on the night with 85 yards of his own, adding a touchdown of his own in the same game.
Cincinnati’s roster has produced several unlikely preseason storylines this summer, including receiver Dohnte Meyers, a former DoorDash driver who worked his way into meaningful reps after a stint in the CFL.
Whether Haynes’ performance translates into a roster spot or a practice squad opportunity remains to be seen, with Cincinnati’s final cuts looming ahead of the regular season opener.
