Thunderstorm Artis was one of the best artists on Season 23. He ended up being in the Top 5. However, he did not end up winning the show. Breanna Nix, Jamal Roberts, and John Foster were in the Top 3. Jamal Roberts won the show. Regardless, all of them have been doing amazing things since being on the show. It was a great experience for them and got their names out there when they might not have otherwise. People love American Idol and were pleased with Season 23 of the show.

He Reveals ‘Terrifying’ Reason They Left The Show
American Idol star Thunderstorm Artis actually left the show. He revealed that they had to “sign a generic artist and publishing” and that terrified him.
“It was pretty terrifying for me because I had built a business already on my music,” he said. “So to just kind of give it away in the way that it was presented to me at the time was really terrifying.”
He left the show. However, producers were able to talk him back into being on the show and signing the papers. Thunderstorm then revealed that he was able to get out of the contract after.
“Thankfully after the show and after everything wrapped… I was one of the artists who were able to be released from that,”
Now he has the freedom to do what he wants with his music. This was most important to him.

It seems as though Thunderstorm did not want to sign over everything that he had ever done. However, he was able to get out of the contract at the end. This was something he was thankful for. However, he did technically leave the show, but they got him to come back. It got his name out there a lot more as he ended up in the Top 5.
