Troy Aikman and Marcus Spears couldn’t mask their feelings about the Philip Rivers news.

Philip Rivers and his wife Tiffany have 10 children. They welcomed their 10th child in late 2023.

The former quarterback is now trying to come out of retirement to play for the Colts.

If the Indianapolis Colts sign the retired quarterback, he would become the oldest player in the NFL this season.

“The Colts are planning to bring potential Hall of Fame QB Philip Rivers into their facility Tuesday to work out to see if he may join their practice squad, per me and Mike Garafolo,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Ahead of the Eagles-Chargers Monday Night Football game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter delivered the news to his network.

ESPN’s Marcus Spears and Troy Aikman both had incredible reactions to Schefter’s report.

The Colts currently have Brett Rypien on the practice squad, and he’s the only other in-house option.

Anthony Richardson is not a candidate to come off the injured reserve at this time.

The Colts Are Praying That Philip Rivers Could Save Their Season

The Colts, who are in desperate need of a quarterback, have brought in Rivers for a workout. They haven’t yet decided to sign Rivers, and Rivers has not yet determined whether he will play.

He last played five years ago for the same franchise, leading them to a winning record and a playoff appearance.

A few weeks ago, the team was looking like a Super Bowl contender. Now they are completely out of the playoff picture following three-straight losses.

Philip Rivers turned 44 on Monday, Dec. 8. If signed, he would have a short time to learn the offense and get the team back rolling again, so this season doesn’t go to waste.
