DiJonai Carrington Tried To Take Sophie Cunningham’s Head Off With Dirty Foul, Immediately Ejected After Brawl Breaks Out [VIDEO]
Sophie was not happy.
Sphie Cunningham had already been at the center of plenty of WNBA controversy heading into her latest outing. Then DiJonai Carrington gave her another reason to be angry.
Carrington was ejected during Saturday’s Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky matchup after delivering a hard foul on Cunningham.
The hit occurred after Cunningham drove toward the basket late in the first quarter. Carrington caught her in the head while attempting to stop the layup.
The contact sent Cunningham sprawling.
Officials reviewed the play and upgraded Carrington’s foul to a Flagrant 2. She was subsequently ejected.
Cunningham, however, wasn’t content to simply take her free throws and move on.
She immediately confronted Carrington.

The clip below shows Cunningham getting into Carrington’s face following the foul. Fortunately, teammates quickly intervened and pulled Cunningham away.
Carrington had scored eight points before her ejection, giving Chicago an early offensive spark.
Cunningham has also found herself involved in several controversial moments recently.
She has attracted significant attention after publicly discussing her opposition to transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.
As for the game, the Fever were ahead 53-42 at halftime at the time of writing.
