Heroes Star Hayden Panettiere D3ad at 36 as Family Reveals the Tragic Cause of Her D3ath
Hayden Panettiere, celebrated for her starring roles in hit television series including Heroes and Nashville, has passed away at the age of 36.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” read a family statement provided to ABC News. Her father, Skip Panettiere, requested privacy “as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.”
The Hollywood star leaves behind her only child, a daughter named Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, who was born on December 9, 2014. This came after the late actress broke her silence over her “slurred speech” during a high-profile interview.
Kaya’s father is former professional heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko, to whom Panettiere was previously engaged.
Following the couple’s separation, Kaya relocated to Europe to live with her father while the Heroes star pursued treatment for addiction and postpartum depression.

Additional details regarding Panettiere’s death have not been disclosed publicly.
Nevertheless, Panettiere had been open about her challenges spanning from child stardom into adulthood.
In May 2026, she published a memoir entitled This Is Me: A Reckoning, which offered an intimate glimpse into her battles with alcoholism, depression, and other pressures within the entertainment industry.
In her memoir, Panettiere revealed how a physician previously cautioned her that continued drinking could prove fatal within five years due to her struggles with alcoholism.

On July 11, Panettiere was scheduled to appear publicly at the horror event Creep I. E., Aftermath, but withdrew at the eleventh hour, reports the Mirror US.
The Scream actress was originally expected to attend the horror convention in Ontario, California, on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12.
Yet on July 10, event organizers disclosed via social media that the Nashville actress would be unable to participate due to what they characterized as an “emergency,” offering no further explanation.

She had been slated to participate in what organizers billed as a “very rare” Scream 4 cast reunion, featuring Panettiere and Nico Tortorella.
The organizers confirmed her withdrawal on the convention’s official Instagram account, writing in the caption, “Hayden Panettiere has an emergency and will not be able to attend this weekend, we are looking forward to her appearing at an upcoming show.”
A spokesperson for the Scream 4 actress issued a statement to People. On July 11, additional information about her absence from the convention was provided.
“Hayden cancelled her appearance due to a private family matter concerning the health of an elderly relative,” the statement read.
