As the vehicle races forward, people desperately try to escape in all directions.

According to the independent TV networkΒ IranΒ International, terrified screams could be heard as one woman was π˜’π˜ͺ𝘭𝘭ed and three others injured.

The harrowing footage was captured on January 8 in Yahyavi Square, in the northwestern city of Ardabil.

At the time, the Iranian authorities were at the height of carrying out brutal crackdowns on protesters.

Reports suggest at least 50,834 people have now been arrested since protests broke out in late December.

US-basedΒ Human RightsΒ ActivistsΒ NewsΒ Agency say at least 6,876 people have also been π˜’π˜ͺ𝘭𝘭ed.

However, other human rights organisations put the tally much higher, with some estimating as many as 30,000 have been π˜’π˜ͺ𝘭𝘭ed.

In the midst of this, US and Iranian officials areΒ set to meet for the first time since the regime’s violent operation began.

The upcoming talks – scheduled for Friday in Muscat, Oman – are expected to play a pivotal role in determining whether the US will consider renewed military action against Iran.

Oman has previously hosted multiple rounds of nuclear negotiations between the US and Iran.

While the Trump administration has not officially confirmed the talks, theΒ White HouseΒ has expressed eagerness for the meeting.

This comes despite rising tensions, including theΒ US shooting down an Iranian drone that came dangerously close to an American aircraft carrierΒ on Tuesday morning.

Iranian boats, reportedly from the regime’s Revolutionary Guard, also attempted to block a US-flagged ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has yet to acknowledge either of these incidents, but so far, neither has derailed the prospect of talks betweenΒ WashingtonΒ and Tehran.

White House Press SecretaryΒ Karoline LeavittΒ stated that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has been planning talks with Iranian officials inΒ TurkeyΒ later this week.

PresidentΒ Donald TrumpΒ β€œis always wanting to pursue diplomacy first, but obviously it takes two to tango,” Leavitt said.

Despite the diplomatic efforts, Trump has not ruled out the possibility of renewed military action if the talks fail.

β€œRight now we’re talking to them, we’re talking to Iran, and if we can work something out that’d be great,” Trump said.

β€œAnd if we can’t, probably bad things would happen”

Iran has warned of retaliation against US bases and vessels if attacked.

Trump’s initial calls to Tehran were focused on urging the regime to β€œstop π˜’π˜ͺ𝘭𝘭ing” protesters and warning against executing detained demonstrators.

However, his focus has since shifted to negotiating a new deal on Iran’s nuclear program.
