Former DWTS pro Maks Chmerkovskiy isn’t afraid to say what is on his mind. But his recent insults to a Season 34 pro went too far. The fan-favorite dancer apologized for his comments and extended an olive branch. Keep reading for the latest on the backstage drama.
Maks Chmerkovskiy Insults Season 34 Pro
Maks Chmerkovskiy was a pro on DWTS for seventeen seasons. He last danced on the ABC reality show in 2017. He left the show after Season 25, but he’s still invested in it. Maks joined his wife, fellow DWTS alum Peta Murgatroyd, on her podcast earlier this month. He shared his unfiltered thoughts on Season 34.

He appeared on Good Morning America earlier in the season to share his reaction to frontrunner Whitney Leavitt getting a 9 for her routine on Disney night. Maks again brought the drama from the Los Angeles, California, studio where DWTS films into the real world. In the more recent podcast interview, he threw shade at Jan Ravnik, a backup dancer for Taylor Swift who joined DWTS for the first time this season.
“Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars. There’s zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. It is absurd,” Maks said.
Former DWTS Pro Apologizes, Extends Olive Branch
Jan Ravnik was partnered with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck on Season 34. They were eliminated after landing in the bottom three earlier this week. Jen and many DWTS fans spoke up to defend Jan from Maks’ harsh comments.

After days of backlash, Maks Chmerkovskiy had a change of heart and publicly apologized. He took to TikTok to share a heartfelt apology to Jan Ravnik. The former DWTS expressed regret in the lengthy video.
“I want to apologize to Jan for the way my words had made you feel, for hurting your feelings,” he said. Maks extended an olive branch by imploring Jan to meet him in person so he could apologize again.
“Dare I say, we probably might even be friends,” Maks declared. He touched on his past behavior on the show. Maks frequently lost his patience with his DWTS partners. “I’m very honest. And I’m very, again, I told you I’m very black and white,” he said in the video.
Fans Want Jan Ravnik Back Next Season
As far as we know, Jan Ravnik has yet to accept Maks’ apology or offer to meet in person. But DWTS fans have his back. Many thought that Maks’ comments were out of line and uncalled for. Some fans hope to see Jan back next season.
ABC reportedly plans to make some changes to the pro lineup. Jan’s name was mentioned as a pro who needs extra work before being asked back for another season. Do you think the show should give him another chance to prove he has the moves?

“30 MILLION PEOPLE ONCE LOST THEIR MINDS OVER… A CURTAIN.” Believe it or not, one of the funniest moments in TV history came from a simple green curtain. Back in 1976, the Carol Burnett Show delivered a scene so ridiculous that the entire country practically stopped breathing from laughter. Carol walked down a grand staircase wearing a “gown” made from green velvet drapes—curtain rod still hanging across her shoulders like she’d ripped it straight off the wall. The audience exploded the second they saw her. She didn’t even make it halfway down the steps before people were doubled over, crying with laughter. Costume legend Bob Mackie came up with the idea as a quick joke, but when Carol caught sight of herself in that over-the-top outfit, she literally collapsed laughing. And nearly 50 years later, it’s still just as hilarious as the day it aired.
Long before memes and viral videos dominated pop culture, The Carol Burnett Show delivered one of the most unforgettable comedic…
