The basketball legend met Yvette Prieto at a Miami nightclub in 2008. At the time, he was newly single following his high-profile divorce from his first wife, Juanita Vanoy. Afterward, the pair hit it off quickly and decided to move in together the following year.
Next, after dating for several years, they became engaged over the Christmas holidays in 2011. Two years later, they got married in a lavish ceremony at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida.
