Paige Bueckers Sparks Heated WNBA Debate As Caitlin Clark Comparisons Take A Sharp Turn
The Paige Bueckers-Caitlin Clark debate doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
Despite all the hype surrounding Clark and the Indiana Fever, there are plenty of WNBA fans who believe Bueckers is a more valuable player. This has been a popular take even dating back to her time at UConn.
While on ESPN Radio this Wednesday, former NFL wide receiver Harry Douglas argued that Bueckers has been “everything” Clark was supposed to be in the WNBA. This statement was made after Bueckers had 15 points in a win over the New York Liberty.
“You look at the Dallas Wings, they had the worst record a season ago in the WNBA. They had the number one overall pick, and they drafted Azzi Fudd. But the way Paige Bueckers is playing, Ogunbowale, Fudd, and the rest of the Dallas Wings players have been connecting on all cylinders. They have the fourth-best record in the WNBA,” Douglas said.
“It’s so funny to me how two seasons ago, you were the worst team in the league. You add one player, and the confidence and the morale around the team is different for 2026, and now they have the fourth-best record. But Paige Bueckers? I’m sorry to say it, but everything we expected Caitlin Clark to be, Paige Bueckers has been in the WNBA.”

Going by the numbers.
Since going pro in 2024, Clark has averaged 19.0 points and 8.4 assists per game for the Fever while making 33.1% of her attempts from downtown. Bueckers, on the other hand, has averaged 19.5 points and 5.6 assists per game since joining the Wings in 2025.
As far as accolades go, Clark is already a three-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year. Bueckers is a two-time All-Star and the reigning Rookie of the Year.
If we’re being quite honest, Bueckers and Clark are both extremely talented playmakers capable of being the driving force for their respective teams. Instead of arguing who’s better this early in their careers, WNBA fans should sit back and enjoy watching them play.
