Sophie Cunningham Reveals Surprising Details About Her Dating Life
Cunningham gave an unexpected answer.
Sophie Cunningham might be one of the most-followed stars in the WNBA, but her love life is way quieter than her buzzing social media feed.
The Indiana Fever guard is sitting on over 4.2 million Instagram followers, a wild number across the league, especially since she mostly comes off the bench for the Fever.
These days, Instagram DMs are how plenty of young athletes end up connecting. Soccer star Trinity Rodman, for instance, openly shared that she broke the ice by sliding straight into boyfriend Ben Shelton’s DMs.
Cunningham, though, isn’t really playing that game, she says dating just isn’t high on her list of priorities right now.
During a conversation with Pat Spinosa, Cunningham was asked about the worst first date she had experienced. Her answer surprised Spinosa.
“People don’t come up to me. Like, I don’t really go on dates,” Cunningham said.
Spinosa then asked when Cunningham last went on a legitimate date. The Fever guard shut down the conversation.
“Why? I’m not (expletive) answering this,” Cunningham responded.
Basketball Comes First For Cunningham

Cunningham appears to have little interest in making her dating life public right now. Her response made it clear that she prefers to keep those details private.
That focus also makes sense given the Fever’s current situation.

Indiana remains in the middle of a playoff chase and holds one of the better records in the WNBA. The team hopes to make a serious run toward the Finals.
The league is currently on a two-week break due to the FIBA World Cup. Still, the offseason remains several months away.
Cunningham may have more time for dating once basketball slows down. For now, though, she seems focused on the job in front of her.
Her large Instagram following may continue to bring attention to her personal life. But Cunningham showed that popularity does not mean she wants to discuss everything publicly.
For the moment, basketball appears to rank ahead of dating for one of the WNBA’s biggest social media stars.
