NFL rules analyst nails call on insane play

The Seattle Seahawks just pulled off the craziest successful two-point conversion attempt you’ll ever see.

Mike Macdonald’s Seattle Seahawks hosted the Los Angeles Rams in a crucial ‘Thursday Night Football’ clash at Lumen Field. Both teams entered the contest with 11-3 records, with the winning club taking sole possession of first place in the NFC.

Trailing 30-14 in the fourth quarter, Seattle stormed back with two quick touchdowns and successful two-point conversions to tie the game. The second two-point conversion was something that, we can say with certainty, you’ll never see again.

After cutting the deficit to two, Sam Darnold attempted a quick pass to running back Zach Charbonnet. It appeared that Jared Verse knocked down the pass for an unsuccessful two-point conversion. But Charbonnet decided to recover the football in the end zone “just in case.”

The refs reviewed the play and determined that Darnold’s pass attempt was actually a backwards throw. That meant it was a live ball, so Charbonnet’s heads-up decision counted as a recovery in the end zone for two points. Just like that, the Seattle Seahawks tied it up.

Charbonnet has 2,181 career yards of offense, per Pro Football Reference. But it was on this very night that he performed the biggest play of his career.
