Will Levis knows his future.
Tennessee spent three years waiting on a franchise quarterback. Cut day ended that wait. Will Levis is off the roster. Cam Ward owns the job. Mitch Trubisky owns the clipboard. The second-round experiment is over.
The Titans tried to trade him first. Nobody paid a pick. So they waived him Sunday and ate the dead money. Jeremy Fowler said the other part out loud.
“I’m told Levis wanted out. Gets the fresh start he coveted.”
Both sides were done.
Levis already sounded packed after Saturday’s preseason finale. He played the first half against Chicago. He went 14-of-22 for 143 yards. Then he talked like a visitor.
“Very grateful,” he said. “Miss Amy brought me in here and welcomed me with open arms. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Tennessee traded up to No. 33 in 2023 to take him. The pitch was a Ryan Tannehill successor. He threw four touchdowns in his first start against Atlanta. He also authored that late comeback against Miami. Those two nights kept the myth alive.
2024 killed it. He went 2-10 as a starter. He threw 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Sacks and fumbles piled up. Brian Callahan benched him for Mason Rudolph. The Titans finished 3-14 and drafted Cam Ward first overall.
Shoulder surgery wiped out 2025. He last started on Dec. 15, 2024, against Cincinnati. Four turnovers that day ended the argument. Trubisky signed for $10.5 million over two years. The backup job was gone before camp started.

The Titans will eat about $3 million in dead cap if nobody claims him. A claim would move the remaining guarantee. Most teams will wait. A practice-squad deal is the likelier landing spot. Levis asked for a reset and the Titans answered.
Hendon Hooker is still in the building. Ward and Trubisky are the plan. Levis was third string and a pending free agent. Keeping him cost a skill-position body.
He is 27. The arm is healthy enough to work, and some teams will need a backup by October. Nashville will not be that team. Will Levis got the exit he wanted. The Titans got the roster spot they needed.
