The University of Louisville announced that Jena Otec had been hired as assistant coach for the school’s volleyball program. They posted about it on X and Instagram. On X, it has been viewed over 1 million times.

On Instagram, the post has been liked over 4,000 times and has hundreds of comments. That is unusual for the volleyball program, as many of their posts have fewer than 50 comments.

Otec spent three seasons on Western Kentucky’s staff before joining the Cardinals. Her hiring also came after a stint playing for the Grand Rapids Rise in the MLV (Major League Volleyball). She posted herself seated in a huge chair, in her uniform, less than a year ago.

Last year, Otec helped lead WKU to its 18th NCAA appearance after winning its third straight Conference USA tournament title. The Hilltoppers finished the season with a 27-6 overall record. She was also on the 2024 team that finished its regular season on a 24-match winning streak.

In her first season as a collegiate assistant during the 2023 campaign, Otec helped the program to a 30–5 overall record. She brings the good looks and winning culture to the Cardinals now.
