Lauren Alaina reminisced on her career-launching audition for American Idol 15 years ago.
Alaina, 31, competed on the 10th season of the long-running competition show in 2011. The Georgia-born country star was 15 years old when she auditioned for Idol in Nashville, Tennessee, and celebrated her sweet 16 during her run on the show. Alaina was one of the youngest contestants to make it to the finale, competing against fellow country artist Scotty McCreery. Ultimately, longtime host Ryan Seacrest crowned McCreery the winner of American Idol that season, and Alaina finished runner-up. Both singer-songwriters have gone on to establish successful careers in country music.
Alaina shared a fan-edited (@thatgirlwasme3) video on Instagram on Tuesday evening (January 27). The clip recapped Alaina’s 15-year journey as a country artist, beginning with the moment she introduced herself to the American Idol judges at that time, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Alaina wrote in her caption: “15 years ago today, I introduced myself to you for the first time on your tv screen. If you voted for me and have stuck with me on my journey over the last 15 years.. I owe it all to you. Thank you for letting me live this dream. Here’s to another 15 together”
Since launching her carer on American Idol, Alaina has become known for “Road Less Traveled,” “Doin’ Fine,” “Ladies In The ‘90s,” “Getting Over Him,” “Thick As Thieves” with Lainey Wilson, “Getting Good,” “Like My Mother Does” and more. Some of the Grand Ole Opry member’s most recent releases include “Those Kind Of Women,” “Household,” “All My Exes,” “Heaven Sent” and “Little Things.” Find Alaina’s music on iHeartRadio, and relive the last 15 years here:
