Kevin Harlan is so beloved as an NFL commentator that fans are offering prayers and other messages of support, all because of his assignment for Week 8.

To be clear, nothing bad has happened to Kevin Harlan. The legendary sports play-by-play voice is doing just fine. It’s just that CBS Sports did the man dirty with a lackluster game assignment for Sunday.

Harlan and colleague Trent Green called the Denver Broncos’ thrilling comeback win over the New York Giants in Week 7, with Sean Payton’s group erasing a 26-8 deficit inside the final six minutes en route to a 33-32 victory.

Per Barry Werner of the List Wire, Harlan and Green will call the less-appealing showdown between the 1-6 Miami Dolphins and the 3-3 Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this Sunday.

And for some fans, Harlan’s Week 8 assignment is enough to warrant prayers.

“Prayers up to an absolute legend, longtime NFL play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan. 🙏🏻🕊️🥀 Ain’t nothing wrong with him, he’s just calling the Dolphins game on CBS this week,” one fan wrote.

“Do not scare me bruh. 😂 Hopefully the Kevin Harlan Effect helps out this week. 🙏,” a user said.

“When I read your tweet I initially was concerned for his health then when I read further I was still concerned for his mental health ,” said a fan.

“He was our good luck charm. I loved hearing him say, “He’s GOT HILL!” wrote another.

“@dekker please send our prayers to the man,” a fan commented.

“Could be worse. It could have been a New York Jets game,” said a user.

Either way, we’re sure Mr. Harlan will find a way to make this game sound more exciting than it really is, like he always does.

Regarding the other CBS NFL Week 8 assignments, Ian Eagle and JJ Watt will call the Chicago Bears-Baltimore Ravens game.

Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta have the New York Jets-Cincinnati Bengals tilt. The network’s top team of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo get the Dallas Cowboys-Denver Broncos showdown, with Andrew Catalon and Charles Davis getting the Indianapolis Colts-Tennessee Titans game.

As far as Week 8 matchups go, this isn’t the best slate of games for CBS to work with. But at least the general NFL audience will be treated to a can’t-miss showdown between the Cowboys and Broncos on Sunday.
