Former Green Bay Packers star Clay Matthews got everyone hooked after new photos revealed a completely different look. The 40-year-old linebacker still had his trademark long hair, tied into a bun, but his face looked almost unrecognizable.
Matthews was spotted out grabbing coffee and groceries, wearing an all-dark-green fit. His massive, muscular build immediately grabbed attention, too, as he carried grocery bags to his car while showing off the size that once helped him become one of the NFL’s best pass rushers.
Naturally, the dramatic change got people talking, with many wondering whether Matthews had undergone cosmetic work. Matthews cleared the air shortly after during an appearance on TMZ Live.

Matthews said the transformation came from prosthetics, not cosmetic surgery. He explained that Caesars Sportsbook created the look as part of a campaign tied to the current “looksmaxxing” craze.
The former Packers star said he spent about four hours in a chair while professionals worked on his appearance. The process gave him a new appreciation for Hollywood stars who regularly go through lengthy makeup sessions.

Matthews joked that he was not the one who had work done. “That would be Caesars Sportsbook,” he said.
The unusual appearance got compared to the cartoon character Crimson Chin. Matthews, however, looked much more like his familiar self when he appeared on TMZ Live to explain the photos.
While his appearance has changed for the campaign, nobody could ever forget what Clay Matthews did on the field. He walked away from the game with 519 tackles, 200 quarterback hits, 91.5 sacks, and 17 forced fumbles to his name.
Matthews spent most of his career with Green Bay and earned six Pro Bowl selections. He also helped the Packers win a Super Bowl before retiring after the 2019 season.
Now, he’s jumping back into football in a whole new way. Netflix brought him on board for its NFL broadcast crew this season, and fans will get to see the real Matthews back in action when the platform streams the 49ers-Rams game live from Melbourne.
