Shannon Sharpe has issued an apology to Nicki Minaj following a new song from the rapper in which she disses him.

Nicki’s ‘Banned From No’ remix featuring Lil Wayne, which went right up to No. 1 on iTunes this week, has a line in which the female celebrity raps, “If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that sharp,” clearly a direct shot at the under-fire sports analyst.

The artist’s beef with Shannon stems from a tweet shared well over a year ago. A fan told the former NFL star Nicki wanted to be on his podcast, to which he responded, “Nicki who?”

Nicki made sure there was no equivocation, taking to X to remind Sharpe about the tweet and telling Chad Johnson he almost caught a stray because he hangs with him.

While the fan was referring to Minaj, Shannon said he thought they meant former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, as he had been talking about her.

“I used to go back and forth with people. I was talking about Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley said it’s really great for everybody of black America, and I was like … ‘When has it ever been great?’

“Nicki, I was not trying to be disrespectful. Of course I know who you are. I would be remiss to say that I thought you knew who I was, or that you knew anything about ‘Club Shay Shay.’ I’m not that arrogant.”

An X user sent Nicki a video of Sharpe explaining and apologizing, with Johnson promising to text Minaj to clear things up, though it doesn’t appear he did.

“LOL – well we got a funny lil rap bar out of it,” she tweeted. “Thank you, Shannon b/c I was like ‘what I done did now?’ You never cleared it up to the Barbz so I had to avenge them.”
