The Washington Mystics have officially secured their spot in the 2026 WNBA playoffs. They completely shattered preseason expectations with a stunning late-season surge.
Originally, sports analysts predicted that the Mystics would be a lottery-bound franchise because they entered the year with the WNBA’s youngest roster. However, the team found its stride much faster than anticipated.
Due to the rapid development of their young core, Washington managed to compile a strong 23–15 record.
Consequently, instead of fighting for lottery balls, they spent August solidifying themselves as a legitimate postseason threat.
