Diego Pavia akes shots at Heisman voters after loss.

Diego Pavia didn’t win the 2025 Heisman Trophy. It was a weekend full of criticism coming after the Vanderbilt quarterback.

Pavia and his family have taken a bunch of backlash this year. On Friday, Mendoza, Pavia, and Sayin arrived in New York ahead of the Heisman Trophy presentation.

Pavia, who spent most of this season rewriting Vanderbilt’s record books, was blasted for his behavior. The 23-year-old wouldn’t remove his earbuds and opted for a non-professional handshake.

After losing the Heisman to Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, he is now lashing out.

The Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback took to his Instagram story and lashed out at the voters. “(Expletive) all the voters,” Diego Pavia wrote on his Instagram Story. “But…family for life.”

After falling short in the Heisman Trophy race, Diego Pavia slammed voters. The Vanderbilt quarterback stamped a harsh message to those who he believed snubbed him of the bronze hardware. It’s not the type of behavior that NFL teams care for.

Out of 930 ballots, Mendoza collected a total of 643 first-place votes compared to Pavia’s 189.

The 23-year-old signal caller has had an excellent 2025 season. He has completed 71.2% of his passes for 3,192 yards. Diego also had 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He led the Commodores in rushing after adding 826 yards and nine scores on the ground.

Pavia finished first in the conference in passing efficiency, passing touchdowns, completion percentage, and yards per pass attempt.

Diego Pavia also engineered four wins against ranked opponents. That included a blowout win of No. 19 Tennessee in his final regular-season game.

Pavia was named to the CBS Sports All-America First Team and earned Player of the Year honors.

The Commodores set a program record with 10 wins and reached No. 14 in the final College Football Playoff rankings.
