Sophie Cunningham Turns Heads After Dropping Absolutely Bizarre Comment During Podcast Appearance

Sophie Cunningham went viral after an offhand comment about diet during a podcast appearance.

Sophie Cunningham has been on a tear lately. Known for speaking her mind, the Indiana Fever star has never been one to filter her thoughts, and her latest podcast appearance only added to that reputation.

While recently appearing on the Like A Farmer Podcast, she discussed everything from offseason workouts to nutrition. In the middle of a conversation about diet and staying in shape, Cunningham made a comment that quickly took on a life of its own online.

“I was raised on meat, potatoes, cornbread, and a big ole’ apple pie at the end,” Cunningham said while explaining her upbringing and eating habits. “I just feel like there’s nothing like a big ole’ piece of meat.”

She immediately realized how the line sounded. Cunningham burst into laughter, as did podcast host Pat Spinosa, before she clarified through the laughter, “I meant steak or chicken!”

The star guard could have cracked a million jokes, taken a million other metaphors while referencing her family background, but that’s too old-fashioned.

As Cunningham is already making news away from the WNBA, fans on social media are loving every bit of it.

The moment quickly went viral on social media, with clips circulating across platforms and drawing a mix of reactions. For fans familiar with Cunningham’s personality, it was a golden opportunity to crack jokes on the uncanny situation.

Cunningham has become one of the more recognizable faces in the WNBA over the past year, particularly after joining the Indiana Fever and forming a close on-court partnership with Caitlin Clark.

While there’s much to talk about her on-court contribution for the Fever, fans on social media see another side of her personality after Cunningham’s podcast started airing.

However, her recent reference has her followers giggling online.

“She is a damn national treasure and must be protected at all costs,” a fan commented after her goldmine reference to the diet.

“That’s how she got herpes huh,” another fan had a hilarious comment on Cunningham’s herpes.

“She might be the hottest woman on the planet right now. Her sense of humor puts her over the top,” a fan approved of her funny bone.

“That cold sore on her lip proves how much Sophie loves her meat,” another one added.

“The way they both immediately folded is the best part of this clip,” another comment read.

“She is sóoooooooooooooooooooo real and genuine in her beauty. Sophie Cunningham is the real McCoy!” a user wrote.

“She seems like she would be fun to hang out with,” a fan commented.

“That’s not hunger… that’s passion,” a user added.

While the comment may follow her for a bit online, it also fits the brand she has built- direct, self-aware, and willing to laugh at herself. Given her track record, it likely won’t be the last time a soundbite from Cunningham sparks conversation.
