A source told the Daily Mail that NBC plans a low-key welcome back for Savannah Guthrie. “They want the moment to feel hopeful. Something simple that viewers on the plaza and at home will instantly understand.”

The insider said there aren’t any plans to have Hoda Kotb sitting next to Savannah Guthrie upon her return. They want the focus to be only on Savannah Guthrie. But that doesn’t mean Hoda Kotb is done with the Today Show.

“Hoda is absolutely ready to step back in full-time if asked. She never really left the building mentally,” the source said.
