The New York Giants (presumably unknowingly) broke an NFL rule by canceling Jaxson Dart’s media availability after Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders.

Russell Wilson struggled mightily behind center with 17 completions on 37 attempts for 168 yards and no touchdowns in a Giants’ 21-6 road loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

With speculation about Dart potentially taking over the starting quarterback job brewing, Giants reporters tried to hear from the rookie quarterback himself. Only to be denied the opportunity

According to Darryl Slater of The Star-Ledger, Jaxson Dart agreed to talk to reporters after Sunday’s game. But before Dart could have his media session, a Giants spokesman stepped in to cancel it:

“Well, he agreed to speak with reporters in Sunday’s postgame locker room. But a Giants spokesman shut down the interview before it started.

That is a blatant violation of the NFL’s clear-cut and long-standing media access rules. The Giants also violated those rules on all three days of media access last week by refusing to make Dart or third-stringer Jameis Winston available.”

We’ll see if the NFL fines the Giants for violating the media availability rules, or if they’ll simply do the right thing and let reporters speak to their rookie quarterback.

It was an all-around forgettable game for the Giants and their fans. The testy exchange between star wide receiver Malik Nabers and head coach Brian Daboll perfectly summarized the day.
