Pauley Perrette’s exit from NCIS sparked a flurry of speculation, with fans convinced a behind-the-scenes feud was to blame. But the actress, best known for playing the beloved goth forensic scientist Abby Sciuto, has since clarified that there was no scandal behind her departure. CBS also confirmed that her concerns were investigated and addressed properly.

While fans still hold out hope for a return, she’s made it clear she’s enjoying life away from the limelight, focusing instead on causes that matter most to her.

Pauley Perrette cleared the air once and for all. Despite the whispers and fan-fueled drama, she insisted there was no bad blood when NCIS co-star Cote de Pablo exited the show.

Back in 2013, De Pablo’s abrupt departure from NCIS just days before Season 11 began filming sparked all kinds of speculation. Fans were stunned. Writers scrambled. And the internet went wild. But Perrette, speaking at the Summer TCA press tour, said it straight to E! News:

I found out literally 20 minutes before it was released in the press…But we love her. She’s our friend. She had a personal decision to make. No one wanted her to leave. There was no drama…there really isn’t much to tell. There really wasn’t any drama. But we love her, we respect her and that’s what happened.

Still, fans weren’t buying it. Why? Because Perrette showed up in a T-shirt that read “I [heart] my job” and tweeted the same thing with a sharp little #NCIS attached. Many took it as a subtle dig at De Pablo’s exit. Social media fanned the flames. Rumors flew. And for a moment, it looked like NCIS had a real-life feud on its hands.

The drama peaked when Perrette reportedly shut down her Twitter account after alleged behind-the-scenes tension. Some even claimed De Pablo called her directly to cool things down. Neither confirmed it, but the buzz didn’t stop.

Adding fuel, NCIS vet David McCallum called De Pablo’s exit “frustrating” and “illogical,” noting how it blindsided the crew and forced last-minute rewrites.

But Cote De Pablo returned in Season 16 and 17, so clearly, the doors weren’t slammed shut. As for Pauley Perrette? She’s still reminding folks there was no epic fallout. Just one actress walking away, and another one still loving her job.

Why Diane from NCIS: Origins matters more than you think

Diane stepped into NCIS: Origins, and longtime fans know she’s not just another love interest. She’s the woman who later becomes Gibbs’ second wife and causes plenty of future chaos.

In the Season 1 finale, Gibbs (Austin Stowell) meets real estate agent Diane (Kathleen Kenny) while grieving his late wife and daughter. She catches him off guard, and for once, he lets his guard down.

Flash forward to NCIS, and we’ve seen Diane (played by Melinda McGraw) six times ghost visit, including after her brutal death in Season 12. She even married Gibbs’ buddy Fornell next… despite Gibbs begging him not to.

That triangle? Wild. But it never broke the Gibbs-Fornell bromance. With Diane’s origin now in play, Season 2 might just be heartbreak, tension, and emotional landmines.
