Caitlin Clark makes her WNBA debut to sellout crowd – WFTV

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are getting ready to start the 2025 regular season in less than a week.

On Saturday, May 17, the Indiana Fever will open the 2025 regular season, against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. It should be a fun one. Clark and the Fever reached the postseason in 2024, before losing in the first round. The Fever made some nice additions in the offseason and are hoping to contend for a deep playoff run in 2025.

The preseason is a feeling out process for everyone – including Clark.

However, the former WNBA Draft No. 1 overall pick was not happy with the officiating during Saturday’s preseason game. The Fever took down the Atlanta Dream, 81-76. Clark had some issues with the officiating, though.

Clark’s new teammate, Sophie Cunningham, had to play peacemaker between Clark and the ref.

Fans are calling out Clark for being so critical of the refs during a preseason game. They might have a point.

“I might mute all mentions of the Fever and Caitlin Clark. Arguing about refs in the preseason…please go outside,” one fan wrote.

“The refs better start calling offensive fouls for all of those Caitlin Clark push offs!!!!” one fan added.

“I like Caitlin Clark, but I hope the refs get so tired of her tantrums that she gets t’d up into suspension,” one fan added.

“Death. Taxes. Caitlin Clark crying to refs every game,” one fan added.

Of course, maybe Clark has a point, too. She was getting hammered without any real calls during Saturday’s preseason game in the WNBA.

It’s OK to complain to the refs – the NBA’s top players surely do it a bunch – but maybe settle things down a bit when it’s a preseason game that doesn’t count for anything.
