Savannah Guthrie’s world has been turned upside down as authorities investigate the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, from her Tucson, Arizona home.

What began as concern over a missed church service has escalated into a suspected abduction, leaving the “Today Show” anchor off-air and focused entirely on her family.

As the search intensifies and disturbing details emerge, Savannah’s husband has now spoken publicly, offering rare insight into a crisis that continues to deepen.

Savannah’s husband, Michael Feldman, has broken his silence as the search for his missing mother-in-law enters a critical phase.

Speaking exclusively to Page Six, Feldman said he doesn’t “have anything new to report,” underscoring how the family has only been given a few answers over the past two days.

He explained that he is “just being responsive,” while admitting he feels “mostly unhelpful” as investigators continue their work.

Despite the lack of updates, Feldman expressed appreciation for the media’s “thoughtfulness,” a sentiment that reflects the family’s reliance on public awareness as the case unfolds.

Savannah’s Mother’s Final Known Hours With Family

Before Savannah’s mother vanished, her evening appeared routine and calm.  Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the 84-year-old had dinner with family members, including Savannah’s sister, Annie Guthrie.  The gathering stretched into an evening of playing mahjong, a game Nancy had previously shared fondly on social media.

After the night out, Annie returned her mother to her $1 million home in Tucson’s affluent Catalina Foothills neighborhood at around 9:30 or 9:45 p.m.

According to Nanos, Annie did not notice any “red flags” in her mother’s behavior.  That detail has become significant as investigators attempt to understand how such a sudden disappearance could follow what appeared to be a normal evening.

Nancy’s physical condition has also been carefully considered. While she suffers from mobility issues that prevent her from walking more than 50 yards, authorities emphasized she is “of great sound mind” and “sharp as a tack.”

As a result, investigators believe it is unlikely that she “just wandered off.”

Concern turned into panic the following morning when Nancy failed to appear at her church service. Sheriff Nanos explained that a parishioner contacted the family to report her absence, which was highly unusual. That call prompted family members to rush to Nancy’s home and begin searching for her themselves.

When they found no sign of her, they contacted authorities at around noon on Sunday.

As deputies arrived and began assessing the situation, troubling details quickly surfaced. Nancy’s cellphone, wallet, keys, and car were all still inside the home. Even more alarming, she had left behind medication she takes daily, medication that can be fatal to miss.

“This is an 84-year-old lady who is safe in her own home, asleep, and she is taken. That should never happen,” Nanos told Us Weekly.

He added that Savannah had not raised any concerns about her mother’s health prior to the disappearance, further deepening the mystery.

Savannah Mother’s Home Treated As A Crime Scene

As investigators searched Savannah’s mother’s home, the case took a darker turn. Nanos said it quickly became clear that authorities were dealing with more than a missing person’s report.

He described the scene as “very concerning” and “suspicious in nature,” explaining that investigators now believed Nancy was “abducted” and “harmed” during the incident.

While he declined to describe the nature of any injuries, law enforcement sources later revealed that blood was found inside the home. Sources also confirmed signs of forced entry, reinforcing the belief that Nancy did not leave on her own.

In the early hours of the investigation, police deployed canines, drones, and even a sheriff’s department plane to search the surrounding area. By Monday, however, officials announced that the search-and-rescue phase was being scaled back.

Nanos explained that the disappearance was now being treated as a crime, stating plainly that Nancy “did not just walk out of there.”

With the investigation ongoing, Savannah stepped away from her duties on the “Today” show and returned to Tucson to be with her family.

She sent in a statement that was read on air, thanking viewers for their support. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” she said. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900.”

The emotional toll was evident as Savannah’s colleagues addressed the situation live on television. Jenna Bush Hager spoke through tears, saying, “I know her personally. And we want to just report, too, that she takes daily medication and she needs them for survival.”

She added, “She’s without her medication. We are thinking of our dearest, dearest Savannah and her whole family right now in our prayers.”
