WNBA fans are in awe after learning how much money Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark could single-handedly generate for the league this season.

Clark’s jump to the pros has sent the WNBA’s popularity and global following through the roof. The league announced that attendance for the 2024 season increased by 48 percent from 2023, and that it was their most-watched season in 24 years.

And yet, the so-called “Caitlin Clark effect” still hasn’t hit its peak.

According to one expert’s calculations, Clark could help the league generate around $1 billion in revenue for the 2025 season alone. Here’s what Indiana University associate professor of finance Ryan Brewer told Andrew Greif of NBC:

“If things just go as they were, and we have an expanded season of 22 home games with modest inflation, I’m looking at $875 (million). And I could easily see that eclipsing a billion dollars on the economic impact of Caitlin Clark this year.”

Social media had all sorts of wild reactions to this suggestion from Brewer:

“That’s unless the jealous goofs on the other teams who who realize or don’t care about that put her in the hospital first. WNBA is the worst at a lot of things… Protecting their greatest asset may be at the top of the list,” one fan wrote.
