Arch Manning is set to start for Texas in 2025, having been snubbed by his own family.
The Longhorns quarterback is quite likely the most popular recruit in college football history, and his availability out of high school definitely drew the most attention from colleges around the country.
The No. 1 prospect in the country in the 2023 class, Arch chose Texas over powerhouses such as Georgia, Ole Miss, Clemson, LSU, and Alabama. His decision is said to have been influenced by head coach Steve Sarkisian’s track record of developing quarterbacks.
As it turns out, former Crimson Tide HC Nick Saban was desperate for the newest generation of Manning quarterback to suit up for his program, and one of his staffers reportedly went as far as badmouthing Sarkisian.
It’s likely that Saban would have still been at Alabama had the youngster chosen the school.
Steve Sarkisian’s Sobriety Used As Negotiating Tactic
Manning, who’s one of the only QBs from his class who hasn’t transferred, recently hinted that his grandfather’s claims of him staying in school for an extended period may have been wide of the mark.
ESPN Magazine’s Seth Wickersham is about to release a new book about quarterbacks which includes an excerpt detailing the “ruthless recruitment of Arch Manning” and highlights a phone call from former Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding and the quarterback.
It’s claimed that Golding brought up Sarkisian’s struggle with alcoholism, which was pretty much general knowledge, as he was fired from USC on account of it.
“It was public record that Steve Sarkisian had battled alcoholism, a disease that nearly cost him his career. Sark had rebuilt his life and work in recovery. But during one Zoom call with Arch, Golding was discussing Alabama’s schematics and culture, and then he went there.”
“I love Sark,” Golding is said to have told Manning. “He’s my best friend. “I hope he can stay sober.”
Fortunately for Sarkisian and Texas, it didn’t change Manning’s mind.
Now, it’s up to NFL teams to do what they have to do to get him, and one of them has already drawn criticism for tanking to get him next season.
Should he really enter the draft after 2025, it will be quite the scramble.
Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate
Brittney Griner (Photo via Twitter)
WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”
This is the first time I’ve heard Brittney Griner speak! 🤨

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
