A BELOVED meteorologist who abruptly vanished from an ABC-affiliate news station has been replaced weeks after her departure.

She’s now been replaced by meteorologist Jason Dunning who is coming from NBC affiliate WBBH-TV, which covered the Gulf Coast in Florida.

In a news release shared by WISN-TV on Monday, Dunning said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to finally call southeastern Wisconsin home.

“This is such a remarkable place with some of the most dynamic weather in the country.

“After 15 years on the front lines of major weather events in south Florida, I’m ready to hit the ground running with the talented team at WISN 12 to provide the expert coverage this community deserves.”

While working in Florida, Dunning covered Hurricanes Irma, Helene, Ian, and Milton – and the station’s president said this is why they feel confident in their hire.

WISN-TV general manager Shawn Oswald said the meteorologist “has a proven track record of helping people plan, prepare and stay safe during extremely dangerous weather.”

Dunning’s hiring came after Slater vanished from air on February 27 without giving a final sign-off.

Fans were left stunned after the news station abruptly ripped her profile from the website – and watched as she changed her job history on LinkedIn.

Slater didn’t immediately comment about the change, but wrote about missing her audience in a post shared on March 26.

She said, “First and foremost, I want you to know how much your messages and kindness have meant to me and my family.

“Your support means more than you know and I’m incredibly grateful for this community.”

Slater plugged her social media accounts and said, “See you real soon,” but didn’t give any details about her next moves.

Recently, she’s been sharing weather reports on Instagram to her 14,000 followers.

While details about her disappearance are sparse, her attorney Robert Corris said she’s challenging a noncompete agreement with WISN-TV.

Corris, who specializes in negotiating around non-competes and restrictive covenants, said he believes they can find a solution without litigation, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to WISN-TV for any updates on the dispute.
