Jaxon Smith-Njigba had quite the night on Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans.
However, there was one moment where it seemed like his life was truly in danger.
Smith-Njigba, who ended up getting flagged for dunking the football during the game, found himself in a dangerous situation on the Texans’ sidelines after Derek Stingley Jr. intercepted a Sam Darnold pass intended for AJ Barner with the Seahawks ahead, 27-12.
Stingley stiff-armed Smith-Njigba as he ran out of bounds, causing his helmet to come off.
The former Ohio State star responded by shoving Stingley in the back while they headed toward the benches. His teammates responded with shoves of their own. Texans linebacker Christian Harris even shoved Jaxon Smith-Njigba into the bench.
As he held his arms up to show that he was not a threat, former NFL defensive back and current official Nathan Jones jumped in and stood right in front of him to ensure that he would not be hurt by any possible punches.
“Nah. I told ’em I felt comfortable over there,” Smith-Njigba said after the game about the incident

The Texans’ sidelines wanted a piece of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but it likely had more to do with how he was destroying them all night.
Smith-Njigba scored a first-quarter touchdown, but his night was just getting started. Smith-Njigba entered the game against the Texans, leading the NFL in receiving yards.
Though Seattle had four giveaways, Smith-Njigba was crucial to the team’s victory over Houston in the final game of Week 7.
Smith-Njigba caught eight passes for 123 yards with a TD. Texans all-pro cornerback Derek Stingley had a rough night trying to contain him.
The Texans finished with just 254 total yards as CJ Stroud completed 23-of-49 for 229 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was also Houston’s leading rusher with 25 yards on two carries.
On the other side, Sam Darnold was 17-of-31 for 213 yards with a touchdown, an interception, and a lost fumble.
