Heading into the Winter Olympics, Leerdam was blasted for taking a private jet to the Olympics. Many expected her to travel with everyone else from her country. Leerdam has made a career of keeping us guessing. The 27-year-old, who is engaged to Jake Paul, silenced her critics with two moments this week.

Jake Paul’s fiancée won gold in women’s 1000m speedskating at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan on Feb. 9. To do so, she broke the record with her time of 1:12.31, coming in ahead of her Dutch teammate Femke Kok and Miho Takagi of Japan. The moment was so Earth-shattering that Paul broke down in tears while watching Leerdam compete.

Jutta Leerdam won the gold in the women’s 1,000m long track speed skating competition at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on Monday. The Dutchwoman clocked 1:12.31 to set a new Olympic record, edging her Dutch teammate, Femke Kok, into silver.

Amid allegations of being a diva, the star speedskater silenced her critics on that front. The 27-year-old superstar celebrated her achievement, and then ditched it by consoling her teammate. That was a move that stunned her detractors on social media.

Her victory means she has finally won that elusive gold medal in her career. She secured a silver medal in Beijing four years ago. Leerdam has now cemented her legacy as one of the greatest skaters of her generation.

Jutta Leerdam has pursued her dream of speedskating after realizing she had “never been a team player” while playing hockey. Paul proposed to Leerdam in a tropical location on March 21, 2025.

She got a ring and a gold medal in less than a year.
