The never-ending GOAT debate comes up. Recently, NBA analyst Charles Barkley drew a clear line between the NBA greats and made his straightforward opinion on the particular topic. Now, the former majority Mavericks owner has some bold claims on LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

Cuban recently sold the majority share of the Dallas Mavericks and added his remarks to the Goat debate. Speaking on The Arena, Cuban gave a simple but straightforward view. He did not say one was better than the other. Instead, he pointed out how their greatness is just different.

“I am a LeBron fan, right? And even like the MJ vs. LeBron, they are two completely different players, you can’t even really compare them,” Cuban said. “If you have a good team and you need a killer, you go MJ. If you have a team that’s good and you want them to be better, and as a team get to the Finals, you go LeBron. MJ is not going to lift up a bad team; LeBron can. Like, who would I rather have take the last shot? MJ. Who’s going to help your team get better? LeBron.”

Cuban thoughts reflect what many have said before. While James is the perfect team builder, Jordon remains the ultimate closer. Both have a remarkable legacy, but they lead in different ways.

Cuban revealed why he no longer controls the Dallas Mavericks. He shared that General Manager Nico Harrison did not want him involved in decisions, especially during the team’s 2023-24 finals run. Cuban admitted he stayed quiet and did not give his input.

Cuban also said he was fed up with letting his influence fade, but pointed out that Harrison was his own hire. Even though Cuban is still a minority owner, he doesn’t have the right to make any significant moves.
