Today’s ‘Handsome’ New Host Wins Over Viewers During Major Anchor Absences, Leaving Fans Begging For Him To Stay
NEW Today show host has viewers demanding that he be hired full-time after filling in for the show’s main anchors.
Fans are swooning over NBC anchor Taylor Wellman after his appearance on the third hour of Tuesday’s broadcast.

The TV star stepped in for Craig Melvin, who typically hosts the hour with Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer, while he’s away on vacation.
Al was also absent for the day, leaving Taylor, Dylan, and Laura Jarrett to take over the hosting duties.
This was the first time that Taylor has served as one of the main anchors on Today, though he did appear on Monday’s broadcast.
The former U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team player joined Al and Dylan to discuss the aftermath of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which concluded on Sunday.
Many viewers enjoyed the shakeup and pleaded for the hunky news anchor to return to the show for future episodes.
“I thought he was funny on the beauty sales segment. Doesn’t seem to take things too seriously, which I appreciate. Brings a new energy to the show,” one person wrote on Reddit.
“The next host in the Today franchise! Just the spark the show needs. He doesn’t seem bored or disinterested in being there,” another said.
“He’s also so handsome!” chimed in a third, while a fourth thought the athlete was a “good fit” for the program.
The compliments continued on Instagram, where many called for Taylor to take over a hosting spot on the show.
“@nbc @todayshow You need to hire @taylortwellman full-time! He’s great to watch: Professional, a sharp-dresser, charismatic, looks great on-camera, AND has the gift of gab! #hiretaylor #twellmannotswift,” a fan wrote.
“You fit in perfectly with the @todayshow crew- you’re a natural…fun to watch,” a second agreed.
“You are fantastic!! I hope @thetodayshow makes you a permanent anchor!!” someone else boasted.

It sounds like Taylor also wouldn’t mind returning to the news desk as he gushed over the experience in his post.
“Who would have thought work is fun?! @todayshow,” Taylor wrote alongside a carousel of photos from his time on the set.
“This crew is so much fun and tight it’s a joy to see it in person. And I love being a makeup dummy. Until next time….stay classy,” he added.
Craig and Savannah Guthrie usually host the top of the show, but they were both out this week.
Savannah previously announced that she’d be taking several weeks off to film her new game show, Wordle.
Craig is expected to return next week after his beach getaway.
