THE new season of The Voice is undergoing a massive format shakeup.

The hit show will undergo four major format changes as coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and John Legend all return.

The first major change is that there will be three judges instead of the usual four.

Another shakeup to the format is the fact that the season will have no live shows at all.

Due to there being no live shows, this means there will be no fan voting opportunities.

And the fourth is that the all-star showdown will be judged by Cee Lo Green.

Speaking about the changes showrunner Audrey Morrissey, told Gold Derby, “The hours this season are considerably less.”

She added how if they had kept four coaches, the teams would have been too small, noting, “It felt a little ridiculous.”

Instead, they opted for three teams of 10, with the show feeling as though nothing is missing at all.

“You don’t miss four coaches at all,” she said.

The new season has a theme titled Battle of Champions, but how exactly does this work?

When all three coaches turn their chairs for the same artist, the power shifts to the singer to decide which team they want to join.

By the end of the Blind Auditions, the coach who has won the most of the three-chair turns earns a special advantage heading into the Battles via the Super Steal.

Each coach gets one steal in the Battle round, but the Triple Turn winner has the Super Steal.

The Super Steal is a one-time power that overrides any other coach’s attempt to steal.

If two coaches try to grab the same eliminated singer, the Super Steal automatically wins.

Speaking of this, Audrey said of the coaches, “These people are maniacs. They’re absolute maniacs.

“It is so funny. These are grown people — they all have kids — but they’re so competitive.”

And Cee-Lo Green returns, much to the delight of fans.

“It’s all on him,” Audrey says of Cee-Lo’s comeback for the all-star sing offs.

She then proceeded to open up about Cee-Lo’s return and show entrance.

“Within a minute after we asked him to come back he had texted me a clip from a movie that he had envisioned for his return… and we replicated it for the show.

It’s epic,” she teased.
