On Tuesday, the Washington Commanders kicked off Phase One of their voluntary offseason workout program. It didn’t take long for second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels to go viral.

The Commanders shared a video of Daniels sprinting to the practice facility on social media. The team’s post included this caption: “someone’s excited to be back.” Believe it or not, that video led to fans cracking jokes about the former No. 2 pick’s mother.

Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, has been quite vocal about his career on and off the gridiron. While on Prime Video’s “The Money Game,” she admit she’s concerned that girls will pursue her son simply because he’s a star athlete.

“Some girl out here, she’s got a Jayden Daniels wall and her mama says, ‘Hey honey, you’re going to the be the one to get ‘em.’ And I know that sounds crazy, but I guarantee there’s someone who’s trying to get their hooks into Jayden Daniels,” she said in January. “So thank god he got a mama like me because it ain’t happening.”

Jackson found herself back in the headlines in March when she sat with Daniels and USC star JuJu Watkins at an NCAA Tournament game.

After seeing Daniels sprint to Washington’s practice facility this Tuesday, some NFL fans are convinced he was trying to get away from his mother.

“He’s probably happy to get away from his mother,” one fan said.

“His Mom cant follow him in the facility,” another fan wrote on X.

“Finally free from his mom,” a third fan commented.

Obviously, Daniels was just pumped up about working out with his teammates again.

At the end of the day, Daniels is very fortunate that he’s got a parent constantly looking out for his best interests.

Daniels had a sensational rookie campaign with the Commanders, throwing for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He’ll be a legitimate MVP contender heading into Week 1 of the 2025 season.
