Dominant forward Angel Reese became the center of a viral moment after absorbing a dangerous hit under the basket.
The dramatic incident occurred mid-game as the star player aggressively attacked the rim for a scoring opportunity. After missing a shot, she went back up and got her rebound. As she went back up to score, a defender was right behind her to try to stop it.
Specifically, opposing defender Aaliyah Edwards delivered a hard foul from behind, sending the forward crashing to the floor. Reese yelled something at Edwards before walking off.
Referees immediately reviewed the video footage to assess the severity of the contact on the court. Ultimately, the officiating crew upgraded the call to a Flagrant 1 foul due to unnecessary physical contact.

Following the official ruling, TV cameras captured the forward talking animatedly on the bench. Internet lip-readers quickly analyzed the footage to determine exactly what the athlete said during the break.
Lip-readers thought she might have said, “She grabbed my neck.” Reese gestured to her neck as she said it.
As for the contest, it was a blowout victory for the Dream. Reese finished the game with 8 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. She currently leads the WNBA in rebounding at 12.0 per contest.
Edwards is likely to be fined over her actions. It will be the same type of fine that DiJonia Carrington got after she smacked Sophie Cunningham.
