Scott had spoken out about the changes CBS Mornings editor-in-chief Bari Weiss was making to the show, during which he said Bari was “murdering” the program.

However, the next day Scott was reportedly sent a letter of termination with immediate effect.

But Scott leaving the show appeared to have an instant impact, with the latest figures for the program showing that it’s on track for its worst-rated June viewership in history.

According to the Nielsen report containing viewership figure for CBS Mornings around Scott’s firing, the average views of the show dropped from 1.8million in total to 1.59million.

This is an approximate fall on 11 per cent just in the days following Scott leaving the show.

Though the “hemorrhage” of viewers was noticed by CBS Mornings’ show officials, they didn’t appear to be too concerned.

Oliver Darcy noted that as much as the drop “alarmed some officials” it would only be temporary because “any apparent viewer protest over [Scott’s] firing” would be short-lived.

CBS Mornings is hosted by Gayle King and Nate Burleson.

Scott had spent 37 years with CBS news before getting terminated.

He started out as a reporter covering national affairs, including traveling to war zones.
