Gabbie Marshall may have stepped away from competitive basketball after her Iowa career, but one of Caitlin Clark’s former teammates still knows how to get sports fans talking.
Marshall caused a major stir when she appeared at a Cincinnati Bengals game in October 2024, with photos of the former Iowa Hawkeyes guard quickly attracting attention across social media.
The Cincinnati native attended the Bengals’ matchup with the Baltimore Ravens wearing a Bengals jersey, and the team shared several photos of her from the game on its official Instagram account.
Although the appearance happened nearly two years ago, the photos remain a memorable crossover between one of Iowa women’s basketball’s most popular players and Marshall’s hometown NFL team.
Marshall spent five seasons with the Hawkeyes and became an important member of the backcourt alongside Clark during Iowa’s rise into the national spotlight.

Gabbie Marshall Became a Fan Favorite at Iowa
During her college career, Marshall averaged 6.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Her impact, however, went beyond the box score.
She developed a reputation for her defensive work and became a key part of an Iowa team that made deep postseason runs during the closing stages of her college career.
Marshall returned for a fifth season and helped the Hawkeyes reach another national championship game before ending her collegiate career in 2024.
Unlike Clark, who moved on to professional basketball, Marshall chose not to pursue a playing career after leaving Iowa and instead continued her education.
That did not mean she disappeared from the sports world.
Her appearance at the Bengals-Ravens game provided a perfect example.
The Bengals posted photos of Marshall with the caption: “@gabbie.marshall bringing that ENERGY 🔥 @iowawbb | #RuleTheJungle🐅.”
Fans immediately flooded the comments, but several familiar basketball names also joined the reaction.
Former Iowa teammate Kate Martin wrote: “This is amazing😂.”
Kylie Feuerbach also referenced one of Marshall’s memorable moments on the court, writing: “Second pic is giving me game winning block vibes from big 10 championship. Love to see it.”
Another fan made their feelings even clearer: “NEED her back on the court ASAP.”

Caitlin Clark Had the Perfect Response
Clark could not resist getting involved once she saw her former teammate representing Cincinnati.
Rather than supporting Marshall and the Bengals, Clark jokingly responded: “Go Chiefs!”
It was an unsurprising reaction given Clark’s well-known support for Kansas City.
At the time, the Chiefs had not yet played their Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, which took place the following night.
Marshall’s Bengals, meanwhile, had already endured a painful afternoon.
Cincinnati lost a dramatic overtime game to Baltimore, meaning Marshall did not get to celebrate a victory despite bringing plenty of attention to the stands.
The result did little to slow down the reaction to her photos.
Marshall had built a considerable following during her time at Iowa, especially while playing alongside Clark during the Hawkeyes’ hugely popular NCAA tournament runs.
That connection ensured even a simple trip to an NFL game could quickly become a talking point among basketball fans.

The playful exchange between Marshall and Clark also offered another reminder of the bond formed between members of those Iowa teams.
By 2026, both have moved well beyond their final season together in an Iowa uniform, but moments from that era — and their interactions away from the court — continue to attract attention from fans.
Marshall may have chosen a different path after college basketball, but her viral Bengals appearance proved that fans certainly had not forgotten about her.
And Clark’s two-word Chiefs response made the throwback moment even better.
