Dolly Parton’s FINAL WISH Revealed Following Her Unexpected Passing

Dolly Parton revealed what she hoped her legacy would be in the years leading up to her death on Tuesday.
The country icon, 80, passed away on August 25 after a brief fight with cancer. Her representatives confirmed she died peacefully at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee, with family by her side.
In a social media announcement, Dolly’s nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, delivered the news, revealing the star had asked him to record the video years earlier. It comes after Dolly Parton revealed she once turned “cried all night” after Elvis Presley’s request.
In the days preceding her death, Dolly posted her last video message to supporters, saying, “My little butterfly wings are getting tired,” and that a doctor had “clipped her wings.”
More than four decades before her death, in 1982, Dolly expressed what she wanted her legacy to be during a conversation with Barbara Walters.

When Barbara asked how she wished to be remembered a century from now, Dolly responded, “If I’m remembered 100 years from now, I hope it will be not for looks but for books.”
While the comment seemed like a clever quip, 13 years afterward, in 1995, Dolly would establish Imagination Library in tribute to her father, who never mastered reading or writing. The initiative has since distributed approximately 300 million complimentary books to children across the globe.
The initiative sends high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth through their fifth birthday. The program will continue in the star’s absence, carrying on her mission of planting the “seeds of dreams” through literature.
Families in participating regions can enroll without meeting any income criteria, as the program is entirely free. Additionally, every child’s first book upon enrollment is the timeless classic The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter, regardless of their age.

Dolly memorably repeated the phrase during a 2017 Today Show interview with Jenna Bush Hager, expressing her preference to be remembered as the “Book Lady” rather than the “Queen of Country.”
East Village Bookshop in Sacramento, California, paid homage to the star by sharing her celebrated quote with followers, writing, “Such a sad day to lose the lovely, funny, talented, inspiring Dolly Parton.
“But her legacy lives on through the incredible non-profit Imagination Library she started 30 years ago that has sent more than 300 million books to kids in need.
“If you loved Dolly too, join us in making a small donation, whatever you can, today in Dolly’s honor and make a lasting impact. RIP Dolly.”
Supporters also offered their own tributes, with one posting on Instagram, “Beautiful soul. May her soul rest in peace.” Another wrote, “Some grace this world so well, with their love and humanity, we want them to live forever.”
“Dolly certainly helped children find their dreams through books,” wrote one admirer, while another summed up her impact by saying, “What a legacy of philanthropy and compassion.”
