The competition on Season 28 of The Voice is heating up as contestants make it through the tough Battle rounds. But some fans think the coaches aren’t being fair. In fact, there are even accusations of the coaches giving their favorite contestants an unfair advantage. Keep reading to find out how.

Huge Change To Battle Rounds

The Voice coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg have all chosen contestants for their respective teams. Michael Bublé, whose team won Seasons 26 and 27, hopes for a three-peat win. But the other coaches won’t make it easy for them.

The fun part of the NBC competition is the different rounds hopeful winners have to go through to get to the finals. In the Battle rounds, two contestants go head-to-head while performing the same song. The best singer advances. But Season 28 made a minor change to the Battles that has huge consequences.

In previous seasons, the contestants facing off in each Battle round were chosen by the coaches. But Season 28 puts the power into the hands of the contestants. They choose their own competitors for the Battle rounds. Despite the change, some viewers think the coaches are manipulating the Battle rounds in a surprising way.

The Voice Fans Call Out Judges For Being Unfair In Battles

While The Voice contestants have some power in the Battle rounds, they don’t have all the power. The coaches still choose the songs the competitors will sing to hopefully get them through to the next round.

Some fans believe that the coaches aren’t fair in choosing the songs. “The coaches choose songs what fit someones voice perfectly and doesnt fit the other person,” one fan of The Voice complained on social media.

The fan thinks that the coaches give their favored contestant an unfair advantage by giving a song that their competitor can’t sing as well.

Other viewers agreed that the coaches manipulate the results of the Battle rounds. One longtime viewer wrote, “Been a problem like that for years. Why I personally believe the battles are pointless and all for show. Especially when coaches have favorites and just have them in mind instead of both competitors.”

Another added, “Yes and it is by design. They often even say it on the show. More often than not, I see the person less comfortable with the song going through though. Not sure what that is about.”

A third fan of the NBC competition wrote, “I think they kinda know who they want to go through before hand so they set it up so someone they want to keep doesn’t go home”

Season 28 of The Voice continues through early December when a winner is chosen. Many fans consider Ralph Edwards, the singer from Fresno, California, to be an early frontrunner.

Fans won’t have to wait long between seasons. Season 29 is already filming and will premiere in early 2026.
