AMERICAN Idol has suffered a major issue during the first live show of Season 24 that left producers scrambling and even ruined an elimination round.
The Top 14 was expected to be cut down to 12 finalists during the ABC singing competition series, but a glitch forced them to hold off.

At the end of the episode, host Ryan Seacrest typically reads the results of who is moving onto the next round and who is sent home.
However, after two hours of teasing that the first live show of Season 24 will reveal the Top 12, Ryan announced that they were not able to gather the “unprecedented” amount of votes in time.
“This is the first time this has ever happened,” he told a stunned crowd of the shocking mishap.
A source told The U.S. Sun exclusively that throughout the American Idol episode, as the votes poured in, producers were “yelling and running around behind-the-scenes.”
According to the insider, people working on the show were rushing from backstage to both the judges – Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie – as well as host Ryan.
They reportedly narrowly missed the cameras as they scrambled to whisper in the talent’s ear.
Commercial breaks on the set are said to have been “chaos” as the show neared its final moments on air.
Production eventually determined that they would not be able to get the results in on time.

They were forced to end the episode without the results like they typically do, leaving the final 14 American Idol contestants uncertain who would be headed home and who would continue on.
Ryan, 51, blamed the issues on the “unprecedented number of votes,” but the source told The U.S. Sun it was actually a result of a “technical issues.”
They did not specify what exactly went wrong, however.
Season 24 of American Idol has been a rollercoaster, to say the least.
Fans have been calling for changes to the show throughout the season.
American Idol viewers have demanded for Carrie, 43, to be fired as a judge on the show.
Following a guest appearance from Keke Palmer during episodes filmed in Hawaii, viewers pleaded with ABC to make her full time.
Many suggested that the One of Them Days actress would be a better fit for the show than the country singer.
Fans noted that not only is Keke, 32, likable, she can sing, too.
In a Reddit thread dedicated to American Idol, one fan wrote, “I’d take Keke Palmer over Carrie as a judge any day of the week. That was pure entertainment.”
They added, “Shes so fun an energetic i love it.”
Fans in the comments agreed, demanding that ABC consider firing the Before He Cheats singer.
“Agreed, I’d much prefer Keke asa replacement. She’s a joy,” another viewer commented.
“Been a huge fan of Keke for a long time! She’s an absolute ray of sunshine every time I’ve seen her and to be honest I think she’s extremely underrated in terms of a Singer as she has got vocals,” a third fan wrote.
Someone else chimed in, speculating, “I definitely think they were fit testing her.”
“I don’t like any of the ‘judges’ now. They aren’t allowed to be critical,” a fifth viewer suggested.
Another wrote, “I don’t like her as a judge. Here’s the thing: with ratings being good and how they supposedly changed Idol due to her (Ex. songs of faith theme, Nashville centered show, etc.) I wouldn’t be surprised if they want to keep her as a judge.”
In addition to complaints from fans, rumors are swirling that Carrie is also unhappy with her portrayal on the show.
After slamming audience members for loudly booing her, it was reported that the musician is “frustrated” with this season of American Idol, alleging that producers have repeatedly emphasized unflattering moments of hers.

A source told The U.S. Sun exclusively, “She’s felt more frustrated and annoyed by some of the producers’ decision this season.
“Like them highlighting the times she got booed and making a mockery of it.”
“She knows they’re doing it for the ratings but she felt it was disrespectful for them to lean into that so much,” they added.
“Still, she isn’t baking down this year and if anything, those boos will only fuel her to be more critical, more outspoken, but still honest, with feedback this season.”
Tensions peaked on the show during Hollywood Week, as contestant More, 22, performed an original song tht Carrie was highly critical of.
Before the audience could react, Carrie braced herself for negative feedback.
“I feel like you guys are gonna boo me,” she said to the audience.
“And it’s coming, just bring it on! I love it! Your boos are feeding me!”
Moments later, the live audience erupted into loud boos.
The clip went viral on social media, leaving American Idol viewers split on whether Carrie was being honest with the Hollywood hopeful or cruel.
She opted to lean into the narrative, defending herself online after the fact.
“Spoiler alert….I get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience,” she wrote on X.
The episode was filmed months prior to being aired, giving producers plenty of time to edit out the boos if they wanted to.
They chose, instead, to keep it in the final cut.
Carrie has pointed out on the show that her co-stars, in particular Luke, don’t receive the same harsh critique from viewers she does.
“Why don’t they boo you?” She questioned in a fury.
While she has been a good sport about the negativity on air, laughing it off, insiders have said that behind-the-scenes the response is very
No changes have been made to the American Idol judges panel at this time.
Carrie has not given any indication that she’s planning to leave the show, which gave her her start in Hollywood.
