American Idol Judge Makes Fan’s Wish Come True

Luke Bryan continues to sell out tours after years in the music industry. He often banters with the crowd, much like he does with Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood on American Idol. He joined the singing competition as a judge in 2018 when the show moved from Fox to ABC.

But in addition to touring and filming reality TV shows, Luke Bryan gives back to fans in the best way. He is extremely active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While he hasn’t granted nearly as many wishes as WWE star John Cena, the country singer has granted more than 50 wishes since he began working with the organization in 2011. By comparison, John Cena has granted over 600 wishes since 2004.

Luke Bryan met one Wisher in 2015 after a concert. He granted the meet-and-greet to a teenager named Ashley. She was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer, chondrosarcoma. She was undergoing treatment at the time and made a wish to meet the singer.

The meet-up was arranged through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The wishes are usually only granted once, but the two recently reunited in the most unexpected way.

Luke Bryan Shares Tearful Reunion With Cancer Survivor Inspired By His Music

Luke Bryan reaches many people with his music, but he wanted to do more. He teamed up with Make-A-Wish more than a decade ago to give back to his young fans. The Make-A-Wish foundation grants wishes to children with life-threatening diseases or illnesses. The cut-off age is 17.

But Ashley was able to meet Luke Bryan again, more than a decade after her initial wish was granted. The Make-A-Wish Instagram page shared a heartfelt moment between them. According to the post, Ashley was in the audience of American Idol and had an emotional reunion with the singer.

Why did she choose Luke Bryan as her Make-A-Wish request? “His music was always on in the background with my family… so I really associated it oftentimes with happy memories and good times in my life,” she explained. She added that she was “inspired” by him.

As she continued talking about her Make-A-Wish experience on camera, Luke Bryan walked up behind her and surprised her. The two had a tearful reunion. The reunion was highlighted to promote April as World Wish Month.
