Gina Carano with her arms out.

Gina Carano won’t be fighting again anytime soon.

Coming into her first MMA bout since 2009, Gina Carano lost a ton of weight as she headlined Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions’ first MMA card on Netflix. Unfortunately, she was still facing a woman who still had some dog left in her.

Ronda Rousey’s MMA comeback was as brief as it gets, but she came out with the victory. Ronda Rousey’s MMA comeback was as brief as it gets, Carano on Saturday. Carano did not throw a single punch in her match against Ronda Rousey. She never got the chance.

Rousey immediately secured a takedown and unleashed a brief flurry of ground-and-pound punches. She then forced Carano to tap out to her signature armbar before either fighter could strike much.

Things only got worse for Gina Carano.

Gina Carano Gets Suspended

Following her 17-second loss, Carano was suspended from fighting after losing to Rousey, per LadBible. This is standard practice in the sport. MMA fighters are suspended to protect athlete health and enforce the rules of combat sports. Suspensions are typically issued by governing bodies like State Athletic Commissions.

The most common suspensions are handed out after fights to allow the brain and body to recover. A standard 30-to-60-day mandatory rest period is often enforced after a knockout. As we saw, the only thing hurt on Carano was her pride.

After finishing the 44-year-old Gina Carano, Rousey insists she is headed into retirement after ending on a dominant victory.

“I was hoping to come out as unscathed as possible,” Rousey said. “I didn’t really want to hurt her. Luckily it was beautiful martial arts, that’s what I think that was. It was art.”

Rousey famously won eight fights in less than a minute during her rise through MMA in the 2010s.

Carano, who hadn’t fought in 17 years, said after the bout, “I wanted that to last longer.”

“I felt so ready. I’ve never felt that good. But I haven’t been here for 17 years … and I wanted to hit her.”

It is unknown if Gina Carano will fight again.
