Scott Hanson has offered an update on his future with ‘NFL RedZone’ amid negotiations.

Hanson may leave the show this year after 16 seasons, as he has yet to reach a deal to return. However, he has confirmed to Yahoo Sports that he wants to return, claiming the feeling is mutual on the other end.

Hanson told the outlet that there’s a lot of speculation out there, some of which is accurate, while some reports on the process are simply untrue.

In any case, he wants to return to the show, and the NFL has told him he is wanted back, although an agreement hasn’t been reached.

While this is probably not what fans want to hear, Hanson did indicate that he is hopeful this can all be resolved.

“The NFL has told me they want me back. I certainly want to be back as host of RedZone. 16 seasons of what’s been called the greatest football show there is,” he said.

“We have to come to an agreement and we’re not there yet, but negotiations are ongoing and I’m very hopeful.”

Scott Hanson is out of contract at the moment, as his deal expired at the end of the 2024 NFL season. And, even if he’s keen on returning, he has other options.

The 53-year-old hosted NBC Sports’ Gold Zone during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. The network wants to keep him on, but any deal would require him to be exclusive to NBC and Peacock.

Talks between Hanson and the NFL reportedly stalled in February, so his latest revelation could be considered very positive. But changes could come about anyway, with ESPN set to take over NFL Media and RedZone this year.
