Travis Hunter’s rookie season has been brought to a screeching halt.

Hunter, who cut off his hair to usher in a new era for his career, sustained a knee injury during practice on Thursday, and it will now lead to him being put off the active roster.

Coach Liam Coen announced Friday that Hunter will be placed on injured reserve after he suffered a non-contact knee injury. Hunter will now be forced to miss at least the next four games.

The team is still assessing the injury, Coen adds, via ESPN.com’s Michael DiRocco.

They have essentially lost two players with the injury to Travis Hunter. The NFL’s most intriguing rookie will have to miss the next four games due to a knee injury suffered in practice.

Coming into the 2025 draft, the Heisman Trophy winner made it abundantly clear he wanted to remain a two-way player at the next level.

The Jaguars granted his wish by giving him reps on both offense and defense throughout the summer. He also worked on both sides of the ball in numerous games this year, but not at the level he had achieved while in college.

Nobody in the modern history of the NFL has successfully played both ways to the degree Hunter is hoping. It doesn’t seem to be a good long-term plan if he wants to stay healthy.

Travis Hunter is a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. Getting baptized was a good sign of that.

Without him, the Jaguars will now lose a threat on both sides of the ball.

On Offense, he has 28 receptions for 298 yards on 45 targets with one touchdown through the first seven games of the season. On defense, he has 11 tackles.

With Hunter sidelined, Brian Thomas, Dyami Brown, Parker Washington, and Tim Patrick will handle wideout duties for the Jaguars.

As of now, Hunter will first be eligible to return in Week 13 against the Titans.
